Starting up
Starting up – First select the language (later you may change it while working with ImageReducer by clicking on „Language“). To work with unregistered copy, press “Free Trial”. Trial is free of charge for unlimited period and it is fully functional, too. But the unregistered copy places on every adjusted image the ImageReducer’s name.
Registration -
After the purchase of ImageReducer 2004.7, you will receive e-mail with Serial
number (starting with two letters - TW). You will be offered the option to register after you click “Help”
in your unregistered copy of ImageReducer. Please fill in the registration form
and Serial number. Then click on the button “Next” and the software will
automatically generate the number of the Activation query. You can send the
query number online by clicking on “Activate online”. If you are not online,
select “Activate by e-mail”. In this case ImageReducer automatically creates
imagereducer.txt file and saves it to the folder: c:\ imagereducer.txt. Send
this file as an e-mail attachment to activation@imagereducer.com. Whatever way
you choose, you will receive Activation code by e-mail. The registration is done
and there will be no more ImageReducer’s name on every adjusted image.
Remember: you do not need to be
online during registration.
Source folder – Select source folder containing the pictures you want to adjust. You will be offered all images of chosen type. Then you may select only one file or all files (button „Select all“, the button „Deselect all“cancels the selection.)
Destination folder – Select destination folder for the adjusted files. IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Adjusted pictures can be saved into the source folder. ImageReducer WILL NEVER ERASE YOUR SOURCE FILES, IT WILL ALLWAYS
CREATE NEW ONES WITH A DIFFERENT NAME that YOU MAY later ADAPT ACCORDING TO YOUr
needs (see Naming)
Quality –
Select compression rate. Before
starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend you to check presets that are
optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Resize to
– Select the ratio - how many per cent of
the size of the original image (in points) will the adjusted image attain
(from 1 % to 1000 % - it means that the original picture may be decreased 100
times or increased 10 times). Before starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend
you to check presets that are optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Minimum width, minimum height
– Select minimum width and minimum height of adjusted picture in pixels. Before
starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend you to check presets that are
optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Maximum width, maximum height
– Select maximum width and maximum height of adjusted picture in pixels. Before
starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend you to check presets that are
optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Keep aspect ratio – If you do not choose the “Keep aspect ratio”, the software will
adjust the aspect ratio according to your requirements and will not keep the
original ratio. Optimized presets keep aspect ratio. Before starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend
you to check presets that are optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Automatically detect landscape / portrait mode – This
tool is useful especially when you want to adjust more pictures at a time
where some of them are in landscape and some in portrait mode. For example -
after setting the maximum width and maximum height, you check “Automatically
detect landscape / portrait mode”. Only
then the software knows that the chosen width equals the length of longer
side and the height equals the length of shorter side. If you do not choose the
possibility “Automatically detect landscape / portrait mode”,
the software will change the height. Before
starting to adjust the parameters, we recommend you to check presets that are
optimized and easy to use (see Presets).
Processing – Processing
offers you different methods of image correction. To compare the
possibilities of available methods, try to process some low quality pictures.
With low-resolution
pictures, the image quality
will be poor since you will be able to see the individual pixels in the picture.
Processing helps you to blur the picture a bit so that individual pixels are not
visible any more. Before starting to
adjust the parameters, we recommend you to check presets that are optimized and
easy to use (see Presets).
Naming – Gives
you an easy tool to name adjusted
pictures. To give an example: source files name are P5224110.JPG to P5224140.JPG.
If you insert “2004” to the first text field and “Italy” to the second,
the name sequence of destination images will be: 2004P5224110Italy.JPG to
2004P5224140Italy.JPG.
Automatically add parameters to filename - Gives
you an easy tool to name adjusted pictures - destination images will enclose
adjustment parameters into their names. To give an example: you opt for maximum
width 800 points, maximum height 600 points and the quality 50%, the original
name P5224110 will become P5224110_800x600_50q.JPG).
Rename consecutively- Gives
you an easy tool to name adjusted pictures. To give an example: source
files name are P5224110.JPG to P5224140.JPG. The destination files will obtain
new number sequence such as 00000001.JPG to 00000031.JPG (number is always eight
chars long).
Start –
Starts the adjustment of chosen images according to your requirements /
according to presets.
Integrate into shell – Program ImageReducer allows integrating all (or
the most used) program functions into Windows shell. It means that these
functions are being displayed by mere RIGHT clicking image name in the Windows
Explorer, i.e. you will be able to quickly adjust your images without running
the ImageReducer! Or you may select the functions you want to integrate or you
may opt for pre-selected functions. Note: \*.*
means that selected functions will both be integrated into file shell and also
into folder shell and then you will be able to adjust all pictures in one folder
at a time without running the ImageReducer.
Remove integration – Removes integration of ImageReducer functions out of the Windows
shell.
Presets – Presets
contains optimized image adjustment. Every preset uses the best combination of
adjustment parameters. Presets offer eight ways of decreasing image size (quality
50% or 80%) and four ways of optimizing the images before developing them (e.g.
by pressing one button you can decrease the size of an unlimited number of
images to the size of 800x600; by pressing another button you can optimize 10x15
prints….). Last but one possibility optimizes pictures for Kodak PhotoCD while
using the same resolutions. Last but not least: ImageReducer presets help you to
convert images of different formats to JPEG with the minimum loss of quality (supported
file formats – see the same name chapter on this website).
Language – You
can switch among available language versions. When you run the program again, it
will be displayed in chosen language.
